# Internet of People (IoP)

## Internet of People (IoP)

The Internet of People (IoP) is a decentralized technology infrastructure featuring an open social graph. It comprises interconnected peer-to-peer networks that host individuals’ profiles, reputation, and identity information. IoP functions as an information space offering direct access channels to individuals, where profiles are identified by public keys and linked through relationship connections.

IoP operates as an open infrastructure, allowing developers to innovate in a permissionless manner. It facilitates direct device-to-device communication and supports interactions between individuals and companies without intermediary silos. Devices connect over the Internet and interact through IoP-connected applications.

Within our IoP framework, LAYERK tokens serve as a native cryptocurrency for incentives and payments.

To participate in the IoP system, it's necessary to own an [LAYERK Node](/layer-3-iop-and-hardware/layerk-node.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.layerk.com/layer-3-iop-and-hardware/internet-of-people-iop.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
